Bankrupt Debt Settlement Company: Ironic?

Posted on March 5, 2011 at 12:35pm by

Able Debt Settlement Inc. filed for bankruptcy recently. Neil says, “Consumers need to be weary of these companies. They often cannot deliver what is promised.”

Jan Hamilton, the Kansas Chapter 13 Trustee says, “Based upon what seems to be a significant number of my cases where debtors have been flim flammed by one of these rip off companies, the damage is done a long time before they ever see a lawyer. Debtors seem to be motivated, in part, by (a) wanting to avoid a bankruptcy, (b) wanting to avoid spending money on an attorney, (c) wanting a solution to their debt problems. I have only seen a small handful of cases where the company actually accomplished anything.”

The irony here is that according Steve Rhodes, the @GetOutOfDebtGuy, the list of creditors holding the 20 largest unsecured claims is comprised of mostly people listed as pending refund. Source
